VINDICATOR
Player: Drew
Name: Xerxes ((Sorush Yazidi Hawler-Zadeh <not on file anywhere>)).
Codename: Xerxes.
Age: 19
Height: 6'1
Weight: 194 lbs
Hair: Dark brown (shaved bald, always)
Eyes: Hazel-Yellow-gold
Nationality: Persian
Occupation: Vindicator.
Appearance: Xerxes stands graceful and tall with dark, bronze tanned skin and a broad-shouldered but otherwise muscularly lean and sinewy build. His face and head are clean-shaven except for his broad, brown-streaked black furry eyebrows, leaving his wide thin-lipped mouth, his high cheekbones, his aquiline nose, and his glaring, hawkish yellow eyes easily visible.
Picture:
Personality: Xerxes is a hard person to read at times, what with his casual resolve, and his general tendency to err on the side of civility. He is, however, honest and blunt to a fault when necessary, and can often come up with surprising insights on people and situations (when lives and safety are a concern) that often leave others feeling bruised. Otherwise, he is easy to get along with. While he was born Yazidi, he considers himself ethnically Persian, hence why his call sign is that of an Ancient Persian god-king. He is otherwise an atheist, though he does consider some of the philosophical implications of Zoroastrianism to be 'not entirely shit.' He has a great love for visceral art and music, and is working at various strains of 'lyrical' death metal.
Background: Xerxes lived near a Kurdish village on the Iraq/Iranian border. It does not exist anymore due to aerial bombing and artillery shelling by Iranian troops. Consequently, his birth-based nationality is somewhat hard to clarify. Despite his training, he claims to be either from Kurdistan, or from Persia. He was abducted for experimentation at a young age, while the rest of his clan was executed and buried in an unmarked grave, the village itself bombed and burned off the map, afterwards.
Xerxes survived by feigning apostasy to his old culture, and learning everything he could to please his Iranian tormentors, and to seed the way towards his escape. When a sudden sandstorm took out the APC he was traveling in, he freed himself from his bonds, destroyed his jailers, and escaped into the night, making his way to the nearest US Air force base in Iraq, where he turned himself in. That was two years ago.
Since then, Xerxes has ingratiated himself to the US Military, NSA, and USCIS (customs & immigrations services), by providing intelligence, security for American and UN troops, as well as clandestine 'preemptively defensive covert activities' for the US military (the latter is classified. But let’s just say, there were several things that got blown up in Iran, including the off-the-map base where he was 'created').
After a time in LA, Xeres was inducted into the Vindicators. After serving with them for a time, idiosynchrisies were found within his biology caused by the Iraniaum serum. The problem was corrected, and Xerxes came out a whole new man.

Fighting----- Fantastic (30)
Agility------ Fantastic (30)
Strength----- Amazing (60)
Endurance---- Spectacular (50)
Reasoning---- Excellent (14)
Intuition---- Remarkable (20)
Psyche------- Remarkable (20)
Hit Points: 250
Mental health: 54
Resources: $2,500.00 monthly allowance.
Source of Income- US Military Svc Pension/Stipend and Monthly dividends from looted wealth from the middle east.
Origin of Powers: Iranian Super-soldier Experiment. (genetic manipulation overlayed with gamma-induction and attempted X-gene grafting)
Powers: A High-flying, Damage Resistant, Indefatigable Strongman.
Super Strength- Amazing. Drops to Excellent without powers.
*Super Grip- With his superior strength, Xerxes can weild the unweildy. He may throw large objects dealing his Strength or better at a range, or he may wirld something like a telephone pole to make normal melee attacks against something much larger than him or far away.
*Ground Punch- Xerxes may punch and roll his melee attack at -2cs the ground to send a ripple through it capable of dealing his Strength in damage to something his Strength in feet away, so long as he and the target are on the same piece of ground. No power attack or called shot.
*Thunderclap- Roll Strength to deal half Strength in damage to either everything in a 30 foot quarter-sphere or a 15 foot full sphere. Moveable objects roll Agility and need a yellow to avoid, take half damage on a green.
*Hyper Leap- Xerxes may leap his Strength in feet straight up or twice that forward. As an action, he can roll Strength to increase that distance, a Yellow increases his range by 100% for that jump. He can also fly, but that's beside the point.
Super Fighting- Fantastic(30). Drops to Excellent without powers.
Super Agility- Fantastic(30). Drops to Good without powers.
Super Endurance- Spectacular(50). Drops to Remarkable without powers.
Note: Depowered HP= 58
Armor Skin- Fantastic(30) resistance to physical damage. Remarkable(20) to energy damage. This power is RETAINED if other powers negated.
Contractile Skin- In addition to being tough, Xerxes's skin has the ability to contract and harden; either in certain spots or all over. As the skin hardens and tightens, it takers on a shiny gold color. He can add to +4cs to any given area of himself, but this has no game effect unless something targets that area specifically. He cannot do this refelxively.
*Hard Skin- Xerxes can spread the effect over his entire boidy! Doing so is an action and he may only adjust once per round. Every +1cs he takes to Armor gives him -2CS to Fighting and Agility.
*Hard Fists- Xerxes can also concentrate this ability on his certain parts of his body. Normally this is his fists, but the added density can be put anywhere to help carry his punches. Roll Fantastic(30). On a Yellow, his phsyical attacks gain 10 points of Armor Piercing and whatyever body part gets a localized +2cs to Armor. This does not stack with Hard Skin.
*Visual Frequency Modulation- A variant of this power affects the back of his eyes. By adjusting the rods and cones in his retinas, he can change what frequency of light he percieves; changing to infared or ultraviolet, or all the way up to X and Gamma rays, or all the way down to TV and radio waves and below. However, there are two important notes. First, he cannot see light that is not there, and he cannot generate it. Example; if he moves to X-Ray and there are no X-Rays then he is in the dark. Secondly, he does not retain his ability to see the visual spectrum if he has switched to looking at something else.
**Refresh Eyes- At the beginning of his turn Xerxes can roll Endurance to end the effects of any blindness caused by flashes of light or similar.
*Super Breath- Good(10). Another variant of the contracile flesh allows him to drastically increase his lung capacity. He may suck in all the air (and whatever is in it) around him at a 10-foot radius. This is full-round, but can be accomplished iwith an action on a successfulo Strength roll. He may then blow a nin-damaging gust of wind at half-strength at a target up to half his Strength in feet away.
Self-Sustenance- Class 1000 Endurance for purposes of breathing, eating, and other life requirements.
Antigravity Flight- True Flight at rank equal to his Agility by manipulating his relationship to gravity fields around him. He begins at Poor(4) Airspeed (60 mph) but each round of flight takes that up +1cs to a maximum of Remarkable(20) (150 mph). This ability may be altered in non-Earth gravity.
*Grounding- Roll Fantastic(30) to do the opposite of fly. On a Yellow he gets +2cs to Strength for the purposes of not being moved from the spot he is standing. But, while he is doing this, he can't move from the spot he is standing. Turning this on is an action and so is turning it back on.
*Dirt Dive- By firing up the Hard Fists Xerxes can burrow through the eart with his Flight at 1/4 his regular speed.
Note: Xerxes does not greate his own gravity fields, he only manipulates his relationship with existing ones.
V-Toughness- The Vindicators are all enroled in a Tougness regimen. Some take to it better than others. Xerxes gets Phenomenal (80) extra HP.
Equipment:
Vindicator Badge- The badge acts as a communicator, able to contact the Vindicator base or any member, anywhere on the planet. If taken off, it is a cellular phone and a digital camera. Each badge contains a homing beacon.
Photon Emitter: A device, normally clipped onto Xerxes's chest, emits waveform photons at variable frequencies. If it is set to visible spectrum light, we call it a 'flashlight'. He carries a few spares of these.
Trenchcoat- Xerxes's overcoat is made of special nonreactive material. It is immune to most everything short of physical damage at Amazing(60) rank. This does not offer him any protection mut it may come in handy.
Random Crap:
Simple Forensics Kit- A small pocket kit for collecting basic evidence.
Bear Mace- Remarkable
Handcuffs- Fantastic
Weaknesses:
Gravity Vulnerability- A power of Gravity Manipulation may be rolled to cancel his Superhuman Flight ability. He rolls his Superhuman Flight rank at -2CS to resist.
Electric Reflexes- Xerxes's skin behaves in many ways like a giant piece of muscle. Electric shocks will make it contract against his will. Electric abilities that paralyze or otherwise inhibit on this principle have their durations doubled. Electric attacks that do not have this sort of effect, that hit him with greater than 30 points, force him to roll Endurance or be paralyzed for 2d2 rounds. However, he does get +1CS to Armor until he gets over it.
Muscle Relaxants- Drugs that cause muscle relaxation can take away Xerxes's powers of Contractile Skin and even his Armor at varying degrees.
Contacts: Cmdr Arlington Bane - NSA Agent (SHEILD liaison). The Vindicators.
Knowledges:
Skills:
Aerial Combat- +1CS to Fighting and Agility vs other fliers.
Acrobatics- +1CS to acrobatic feats.
First Aid- May make one action on the same turn he stabilizes a Dying character.
Horseback Riding, Leadership, Military, Survival (desert)
Notable Notes: 'The Madman Xerxes' is a recognized enemy-of-the-state in Iran, and is rumored to have assisted in falsifying evidence (and or the sabotaging thereof), of nuclear weaponization attempts in Iran. Yes, he has seen '300', He also has a fine hard backed copy of the graphic novel, autographed by Frank Miller. He has not quite acclimated to life in the US.

But let’s just say, there were several things that got blown up in Iran, including the off-the-map base where he was 'created').
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fighting----- (#) Xerxes was born into a culture that taught young men and boys to fight their clan rivals and territorial aggressors at an early age. This training was refined with regards to his newly acquired powers by the Iranian military, and included such tactics as aerial combat, and 'how to take down a tank.' Since his escape from his Iranian jailors, 2 years ago, he has seen more combat then most Marines who served similar active combat time in Afghanistan or in Iran.
Agility------ (#) Xerxes can avoid attack helicopter missile fire, a tactic he was forced to learn as (even with his resistance to damage considered) the resulting explosions on impact still tends to throw him around a lot.
Strength----- (#) Xerxes can manipulate up to 28 tons with effort, flying with half as much with practiced ease.
Endurance---- (#) Even when depowered by external means, Xerxes rarely gets sick, and on his last physical test, he completed an average of a mile in 7-8 minutes during a 5-mile run.
Reasoning---- (#) Good: Xerxes Is bright and intelligent but with limited basic education, and with specialized fields of training. He has the equivalent of a California High school education, complete with a US history & constitution component, and has the smarts to attend and graduate college, though at this point he has no leanings towards getting a higher education.
Intuition---- (#) Xerxes is not mentally slow, but the cultural differences and proclivities of American culture in general, (and Los Angeles life specifically) continually leaves him feeling off-balanced. Still, he is otherwise fairly sharp where the basics of combat are concerned.
Psyche------- (#) Xerxes has survived the death of his family, his clan, torture, experimentation, and incarceration with his faculties not only intact, but concealed so he could escape at the best opportunity.
Hit Points: Ignore this
Mental health: Ignore this
Resources: $2,500.00 monthly allowance.
Body Resistance to Physical Attacks- Increased resistance to any physical attack (brute force, chemical weapons, biochemical, disease, hostile environments, and temperature extremes), Ignoring any physical attack with intensity less than that of a tank cannon. Bullets are not beneath his notice, but do not usually damage him without additional freakish concerns.
Self-Sustenance- Xerxes can survive indefinitely without consuming air, water or food, a useful attribute when he's active in hostile environments like the desert or other extreme climate and terrain.
True Flight- Xerxes can fly at roughly 240 mph. This power includes as a side effect, the Power-rank resistance to atmospheric frictions, and lungs adapted to breathe in high velocity wind.
*Stunt- Stunts directly related to a power should be posted directly under that power.
**Nemesis- Gravity Manipulation
**Optional Powers- Body Resistance, & Self-Sustenance.
Equipment:
Equipment- Unarmored breathable, black neoprene body suit, with silver -X- logo over his chest, and red-trim. Black BDU pants WEB belt with gear canisters, and army boots. His black over-coat is off-the-rack design and tends to need to be replaced often.
Weaknesses:
Weakness: Whenever ultimately flummoxed by local idiosyncrasies, Xerxes suffers from a temporary psychological bought of confusion that includes Power-Negation with a Limited duration that lasts for as long as the scene endures. Xerxes does not get out much, because of this.
Contacts: Cmdr Arlington Bane - NSA Agent (SHEILD liaison).
Knowledges: Special things you are educated on that the average person is not. You may or may not get bonuses; just describe how good you are.
Skills: Aerial Combat, Acrobatics, First Aid, Horseback Riding, Leadership, Military, Survival (desert), and Thrown Weapons.

Yes, he has seen '300', He also has a fine hard backed copy of the graphic novel, autographed by Frank Miller. He has not quite acclimated to life in the US. Xerxes suffers from myopia, near-sightedness. He normally wears contacts, though he has several pairs of safety goggles and spectacles for casual or dressy occasions.

Since his escape from his Iranian jailors, 2 years ago, he has seen more combat then most Marines who served similar active combat time in Afghanistan or in Iran.

Xerxes suffers from myopia, near-sightedness. He normally wears contacts, though he has several pairs of safety goggles and spectacles for casual or dressy occasions.
