VINDICATOR
Player: Lukas`
Name: Artifice. No human name chosen.
Codename: Artifice
Age: 24
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 220
Hair: Golden
Eyes: Also Golden
Nationality: N/A
Occupation: Vindicator, Artificer to the new generation of divinity.
Appearance: Tall and Lean; superhero-style muscular; but slightly heavier then his build should dictate. He is not muscle bound, but is ripped and trim in the manner of a statue of human masculinity. His skin shines the same colour as bronze, giving him the look of a living statue. His eyes shine like burning embers, but he oftentimes wears special contacts to give him the appearance of just having normal blue eyes. His hair is metallic gold in colour (might actually –be- gold); and hangs in lose curls from his head. Despite his origin and his nature, he looks, feels and otherwise seems human in all regards except for strange colour of his skin, eyes and hair.
Costume: The Talos mark 4 armour. Golden plates of rune-etched armour over a black leather bodysuit. It seems both archaic and magnificent all at once. A vast, golden hammer hangs at his hip usually; slung from a belt adorned with pouches and clips and containers full of magical knickknacks.
Personality: Naive. He has spent a great deal of time watching the world and learning about it; but he hasn’t ever really lived in it and thus only understands it from an academic standpoint currently. He can be a bit arrogant, given his history and his status as young godling. It is not a cruel arrogance though, mostly just a low level sense of superiority, not a full blown narcissist complex. His father, being the ugliest of the Greek gods and one of the most trodden upon; has taught Artifice a bit of humility though, keeping him grounded and free of the “Crazies” that tend to plague the Greek Pantheon.
Background: "Son" of Hephaestus. Tired of his whorewifes cheating and wanting a good son to carry on his name and work; the Forge-God decides to just go and make one himself. Years of work, several failed attempts..and a great deal of effort later; Hephaestus succeeded. He built an artificial son, a construct of such infinite perfection and subtle design that the very spark of life and divinity flowed from Hephaestus into it. It was not born though; and so technically claims the rank of Demigod; and has become the son Hephaestus always wanted. He grew up (because that’s now perfect the design was, that it even started as a baby) and is now old enough to wish to see the world and to influence the land of mortals. Thus he has left the safety of Olympus to explore the world, and has ended up signed up with the Vindicators, a modern team of superhuman heroes. He equates them roughly to the Argonauts and sees his time with them as more then appropriate for someone like him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fighting----- (#) Above average. Raised in a culture in which a basic level of combat ability is mandatory.
Agility------ (#) Again above average, due the nature of his body.
Strength----- (#) Very high, able to easily lift a large moving truck over his head.
Endurance---- (#) Equal to his strength. Actual physical endurance is effectively unlimited due to his inorganic body.
Reasoning---- (#) Very, Very high. As a young godling of artifice; it only makes sense that he possess a mind keenly designed and honed for the purposes of creation.
Intuition---- (#) Very high as well, for the same reasons as his Reasoning.
Psyche------- (#) Not as high as expected; the Greek godlings tend to be a flighty, impulsive lot after all.
Hit Points: Ignore this
Mental health: Ignore this
Resources: Excellent+2 If not downright staggeringly high.
Source of Income- Salary from Vindicators and own personal wealth from home. Infact; might be able to just up and manufacture gold; thus making ‘income’ a moot point and something he doesn’t fully understand.
Origin of Powers: Artificial Son of the Forge God; heir to the throne of the great maker..
Powers: Divine Powers and Artificial Self.
Artificial Self- Artifice has in fact been built and forged, not born and raised. As such; he is technically inorganic and does not suffer from any of the weaknesses associated with that state such as fatigue, hunger, disease, exposure, discomfort due to weather, etc..etc. This is also the explanation for his greatly augmented superhuman physical and mental abilities. Note that despite this, he does not suffer any of the weaknesses one would expect this power to give; Hephaestus isn’t just some hack building a robot after all.
Artificer Artifice is the son and pupil of the Great Maker; and is thus one of the greatest magical artificers currently active. He does not have a knack for modern technology, he cannot build a cell phone, but could forge Thunderbolts. He could not make a flying car with fans and magnets; he could forge the powers of Zephyr into it though to grant it flight. He has recently begun to experiment with modern things though, but still tends to operate via the binding of magic into them, not by modifying the item itself. He can enchant a gun, but can’t make a real-fancy gun. He is an artificer, not an inventor and that is all the difference in the world.
Equipment:
ForgeHammer- An enchanted blacksmiths hammer; and designed to be a great tool for the making and unmaking of things. It appears to be cast from a mass of molten gold; but is in fact forged from solid Orichalcum. It is able to rend apart mundane materials at a frankly staggering rate; smashing through walls and sundering steel. The one flaw it possess, is that it is damned unwieldy and frankly not suited for use as a weapon. It is a tool after all. It can be used to repair things just as easily though, mending broken walls and fixing a damaged things. It seems to work regardless of technology-level. That’s right; he can fix your computer by whacking it with a giant magic hammer. As it is magic, it is also capable of working non-mundane materials; like raw magic or energy fields, supposing that Artifice could find a way to strike them with the hammer, but when working this way it is not as vastly powerful; operating at a more manageable level.
Talos mk.4 His costume and armour. A black leather bodysuit; with golden bits of armour over his calves, thighs, chest/back, shoulders and arms. A helmet goes with it, but is usually not worn. The suit is enchanted to augment Artifices combat ability, including his strength, durability and reaction times. It does this, by being partially sentient itself. The suit is a very strangely designed golem, and is capable of performing basic actions (Walk here, Pick up that, get on my body, etc) if not being worn. Otherwise its abilities are all subsumed into Artifices own. The suits primary function; above all else is to provide protection and to keep Artifice alive, all its other abilities pale in comparison to this overwhelming purpose. (Hephaestus has actually forged a secret into the armour. If Artifice is in real danger, in actual imminent fear-of-death danger, the suit can override his usual functions and manage independent action regardless of Artifice’s wishes, if it’s to get him out of the immediate harm.). The suit provides more mundane augmentations as well: Flight. Defensive energy blasts (arcane energies, not an earthly energy type), and other qualities one might associate with armour of this style.
Misc Stuff As a young Forgegodling, one can hardly expect Artifice to be without a variety of minor magical trinkets. Mostly useless, but in the right clever hands; anything can be used in the right circumstances. Functions as a magical utility belt.
Vindicator Badge- The badge acts as a communicator, able to contact the Vindicator base or any member, anywhere on the planet. If taken off, it is a cellular phone and a digital camera. Each badge contains a homing beacon. Kept attached to the shoulder of Talos mk.4.
Weaknesses:
Family Issues- Artifice is the artificial son of Hephaestus, built to spite his whorewife. As such, Aphrodite (said whorewife) resents his very existence and occasionally acts in a bitch way to make his life difficult. She is not Zeus or one of the real-real-powerful goddesses; and as such she does not usually throw actual dangers in his way, merely acts in a manipulative way to make his life more difficult then it otherwise would be.
New Guy! The rest of the Greek Pantheon knows of Artifice and while they might not dislike him like Aphrodite; they certainly take notice of him and occasionally check in on him to see how their new “Test Tube Brother” is doing.
Contacts: The Greek Pantheon; other various Forge Gods/Goddesses; The Vindicators and anyone associated with them.
Knowledge: Magic and Artifice (encyclopaedic knowledge of these). Mundane blacksmithing. History.
Skills: Magical Artifice. Mostly the same as knowledges; he was purpose built after all, and is only now really stepping beyond that.
