BLACK PRECINCT
Player: Lybod
Name: Kenan "Ken" Uzi Barter (pronounced kay-NUUN)
Codename:
Age: 21
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue
Nationality: Hebrew-American
Occupation: Black Precinct Special Officer
Appearance: Ken looks like a nice normal guy; your standard good Hebrew boy with lankly limbs and a pretty face and curly curly black hair. While he is naturally attractive and charismatic, he is subdued to the point that he doesn't stand out in most any crowd. He tends to dress well, though, showing a bit of class befitting his occupation. When on-duty he favors an old-fashioned detective trenchcoat for obvious reasons; a neat leather jacket serves him better on his own. Taking the time to focus on this regular guy, however, reveals a sinister animal charisma that is most intriguing
Picture:
Personality: Ken is a jokester, throwing uo a wall of smiles and gags. He always seems like things are pretty great right now - and they are - but he rarely gets serious. The truth is, Kenan has seen the dark side of the world and made it his home. He trucks with demons and black magics and everything his family stands against. Most of all, Kenan knows that he is in trouble. everything is good right now, but he has made a deal with a demon and someday that demon is going to get its due.
Ken also really likes guns. 'Uzi' is his middle name, after all.
Background: In the early days of America the family Barenboim came to Ellis Island and became Barter, turning them from caprenters to thieving bastards. The name didn't stick, but the family largely went downhill from there.
Kenan was born into a lower-class family, the son of a hairdresser and a birthday clown. Yep. His dad is a birthday clown. Naturally, the family didn't have much earning power and so life was tight growing up. Still, Kenan crew into a very shrewd and intelligent young man.
He soon began questioning the lifestyle of his parents; sure, they SEEMED happy, but how could they be with things so tight? What good was all this religion doing them when they were in their 40s amd still renting the same cramped house?
He began to go by 'Ken' because none of the gentiles in the area could pronounce his birth-name. He jumped into a lot of get-rich-quick schemes and scams, but nothing panned out. It seemed, he was to be trapped here in poverty fooor the rest of his life. He'd sell his soul to get out of this. One day, he had a wonderful idea!
Molekh was very helpful and friendly and made the whole exchange very easy. One soul, in exchange for all of Molekh's unholy powers. The deal seemed simple at first, but a person should never trust a demon. After all, the deal never said how long Ken would get these powers for!
However, since that day, a new rule of thumb has evolved; a demon should never trust a Barter. Oh, Kenan's parents were so proud in the years leading up to this - their son spening all his time at Temple, wiling away his hours in the archives, learing everything he could about the faith and lore of his people. His parents thought he was studying to become a rabbi, or a college professor. Nope! He was was putting together a plan as how to doublecross a demon.
The deal was struck, no fancy signing in blood or brimstone cathedral; just ink on parchment. The transfer of Molek's strength began pleasantly. With a grin, the demon came for him, to claim his life and soul! With a sneer, Ken captured the demon in an incantation bowl.
With the demon's powers and charisma, not to mention its physical prowess, life became rather easy. Ken gained aggressive tastes, moving to the city. This new life, with maybe a bit of black magic applied as needed, got him comfortable in the city. Things stopped advancing rather soon, though; Ken had mad himself a blight upon the Earth and the universe in general does not like him. He also attracts assorted nasty things that tend to ruin anything really good that he gets going for him. Since he couldn't turn to faith to fight these things off, he developed a taste for guns.
In addition to the powers the be, the government also does not like people to have ny fun. Therefore, most of the good guns were illegal. Kenan eventually got busted, but upon investigation they found he was no ordinary over-enthusiast.
Another deal became available. He could 'keep' his weapons AND get a job at the newly-formed Black Precinct. In excange for providing his firepower and unique expertise, Kenan got the charges dropped, a steady job, and the resources he needs to try and find away out of his mess. Everything is pretty good, right now.
However, the inevitable draws ever-closer. Molekh stews in his bowl, unable to be held forever, and perhaps less bound than he seems. Also, demons are smart - it sees like Kenan outsmarted the Demon King, but one never knows if there was a triple-cross planned from the very beginning...

Hit Points: 200

Source of Income- Black Precinct Special Officer
Origin of Powers: Demonic Doublecross
Powers: Kenan has the powers of an acient demon king, that he can use to various levels.
Unholy Prowess- One at a time, Ken can trade out one of his physical attributes in exchange for Molekh's - which is always Spectacular(50). He can only 'borrow' one at a time and may change at the beginning of his turn. Using tis ability is somewhat unopleasant and so he usually just uses his own strength in his everyday life.
Unholy Toughness- Ken's HP is based on Molekh's physical attributes. Revert to his own if his powers are lost.
Demonic Defilibration- Fantastic(30) ability to recover from near-death. When at 0 HP, once per round Kenan can roll this power. On a Yellow, he regains 30 HP (ignore negative hp). Each additional time he uses this in one day gets him 5 less HP. Once he rolls a success that nets him 0 HP, he can no longer use it and is at the mercy of modern medicine.
Presence- The power flowing through Kenan is intriguing to mortals. He can use it to bend their will and get his way. Depending on the metal ability and training of his target, and the outlandishness of his request, he may need multiple successes. This power often does not work at all on people who 'know' him, like his fellow officers.
*Entice- Ken can roll Psyche vs Psyche on someone who is inclined to agree with him already to get them to do as he pleases.
*Trick- Ken can roll Psyche vs Intuition to convince someone who does not trust him to do as he pleases.
*Terrify- Ken can roll Molekh's Spectacular(50) prowess against any thinking target's best Attribute to intimidate them into doing as he pleases. However; this use is entirly unsubtle - his skin may turn red, his eyes black, his face horrible - walls may shake and shadows move and lights burst - anyone seeing this happen will know they are dealing with something more than human and less than holy.
Talents:
Dark Magic- Ken has Dark Magic prowess at Reasoning+1. This magic will not have him throwing fireballs; it is slow magic of rituals and incantations and summonings.
*Binding- Ken can bind demons and dark spirits to objects through rituals. This is difficult, dangerous, and without a doubt stupid. However, the effects tend to be rather pronounced. Binding can be done to enhance an object, like his guns, or to get rid of a troublesome entity, like Molekh.
[i[Note: the 'Demons' Ken deals with are not fire-and-brimstone creatures of Hell; they are older than the religion that birthed that cincept. They are dark spirits, unknown entities, unholy things from a time long ago. They are not 'pure evil' not are they nessecarily servants of any particular power. However, they are not to be trusted and are best left alone.
Occult Sensitivity- Kenan has become sensitive to the aether and can see things oft invisible to the mundane.
Equipment:
Black precint Badge- Ken is a cop, an official member of law enforcement.
Squad Car- Ken talked his way up to a Chevy Camaro hartop convertible with a Amazing(60) Bulletproof Windshield. He says he needs the converitble so he can use his guns while driving. Sounds legit.
Service Weapon- Officially a 9mm short-barreled Glock 26. Good(10) damage, 10 rounds, reloads as a free action.
This weapon is good for a lot of things. It's good for target practice, it's good for handing over to criminals and pretending it's your only weapon and handing it over to criminals, it's actually a very good pistol in its own right. Also, if someone 'consecrates' the area and his other guns won't work, this one still will.
Bound Weapons- Ken has an array of firearms to which he has bound demons or dark spirits. It is unclear what will happen if someone besides Ken attmpts to use these weapons.
*Ziz- A Mini-Uzi, only 11 inches long when folded up. It does Good(10) damage has Remarkable(20) Full Auto. It holds 30 rounds. However, it cannot concentrate fire. Without using the folding shoulder stock it is at -3CS to attavk. It takes 1 action to unfold the stock and 1 action to cock the weapon. It cannot be stored cocked. Reloading is 2 actions (load clip and cock).
-Effect: Bullets fired from Ziz that miss their target cease to exist a few feet after missing their target; Ziz can spray an area without much concern for property damage, friendly fire, or innocent targets. However, the bullets do not react enough to protect people who are very close to the target.
-Conceal: Uncocked and folded, Ziz can be concealed in a jacket.
*Hadhayosh- A .22 rifle of unknown make with a folding wire stock. It does Good(10) damage and is suitable for sniping up to +4CS. It takes an action to unfold the stock but it is a free action to reload, holding one round at a time.
-Effect: When activated, the rifle takes a full-round to get ready and aimed and can be fired at the end of the round. If not fired, further rounds can be used for sniping up to +8CS. When fired like this, it shoots a roaring bolt of hellish flurry that explodes for Phenomenal(80) damage.
-Conceal: Hadhayosh can be concealred in a trenchcoat when folded.
*Rahab- The AA12 Atchisson Assault Shotgun is almost a magic weapon on its own. It has Typical(8) Full Auto and a 1-action reload. It has no recoil and is completely waterproof and can go 10,000 rounds without needing cleaned. It is light enough to be operated with one hand, until it needs reloaded. Loaded with slugs it does Remarkable(20) damage with Good(10) Armor Piercing. With shot, it does Fantastic(30) damage at short range. It takes either an 8-round clip or a 32-round drum. The tip of the rifle is made to 'bite' into surfaces and can be used as a melee weapon for +4 damage that ignores 20 points of Hardness.
-Effect: The gun can change its bullets to energy damage. Loading it with slugs allows it to fire a Continuous beam of ligtning with with +1CS to Accuracy. Shot turns it into a short-rang Continuous flamethrower; Yellow or better hits may set the target aflame for Good(10) Damage per round. Will it do other stuff with different kinds of ammunition? Unknown!
-Conceal: Rahab can be concealed in a trenchcoat if it has the 8-round clip. It cannot be concealed with the drum, though the drum can be concealed separately in the trenchcoat.
*Šulak- A 15-inch .357 Dan Wesson Model 715. This absurdly long pistol is slow to fire but easy to aim. When firing single shots, it gets +1CS to accuracy, and is capable of Sniping up to +2CS (at reasonable distance for a pistol). It does Remarkable(20) Damage when fired one shot per round but this damage drops to Good(10) if multiple actions are used.
-Effect: When activated, Šulak is completely silent. Even more bizzare, it makes no wound to the victim or their clothing and merely lodges a slug of lead in their flesh. This still does the normal gun damage, but is undetectable short of surgery or x-ray, and that is to assume someone is looking for it.
-Conceal: Jacket
Fun Tips: Try loading a tracking round in your Šulak!
Poor Metal Jacket- A nice stylish detective trenchcoat on the outside. On the inside? It has place for all of Ken's weapons, plus ammo, plus his dark magic supplies. In he middle? The coat has a thin lead lining - meaning anything concealed in it will not show up on metal detector nor x-ray nor any other method of scanning that can't bypass lead.
Leather Jacket- A neat-fitting leather jacket that has no special properties beyond making him look slick and classy. It can conceal his service Glock, along with either Ziz or Šulak but not both.
Heretic's Library- Ken has a small collection of books pertaining to demons, spirits, and the dark arts of the old world.
Incantation Bowl- A shallow bowl with spiraling script and runes leading down to its scenter. While most could not tell by looking at it, this bowl contains the Demon King Molekh. Those who are sensitive to such things can see Molkh's face floating in there. While Molekh is not happy about being in a bowl, he does not have much to do in there and is full of useful information and ancient wisdom. Assuredly, Kenan has taken every possible step to avoid this bowl being broken by home invasion, earthquake, supervillian shenannigans, sonic waves, collapsing furniture, and anything else that could imaginably break it and free Molekh.
Weaknesses:
Devil Inside- Kenan's powers are those of a demon and come with all the drawbacks. It is possible ti burn him with holy symbols or water, to block his powers on consecrated ground, to excorsize them from his body - all these metaphysical drawbacks. Also, most animals hate him and a few unpleasant species really like him.
Note: Sophie's dogs are well-trained enough to generally keep their cool around Kenan if Sophie is there, but they may act up if unsupervised.
Darkened- The blackness inside Kenan, though he is a good man, is very powerful. Screwed up Psyche rolls or botches in general can have violent effects on his personality.
Contacts: Precinct 13, LAPD, demons and spirits, goth clubs, spooky book stores, gun dealers.
Molekh- Molek was an Ammonite god back in the day and currently a Demon King. He enjoys commanding hordes of followers and legions of demons. He is particularly fond of child sacrafices. Please send all child sacrafices via live burnt offering!
Molekh is ancient and wise and evil. He's full of advice and informaton, if one can get him in the mood to share. He is often surprisingly helpful - to an unsettling degree.
Molekh is supposed to be trapped in his bowl, but he has an undefined level of ability to affect the world in his vicinity or elsehwere and may not beven be trapped at all.
He is probably trapped.
If he ever gets out, be prepared for this:
