Chester is a handsome, athletically built man. He's not thin enough to be considered wiry, but lacking the muscles to be considered ripped.

He has quite short, blonde hair that looks a little tousled and messy. It probably takes a lot of effort to look that dishevelled. Complimenting his blonde hair is a pair of the clearest crystal blue eyes.

Chester is a very sharp dresser. Typically he can be seen wearing pressed trousers, shirts and a silk waistcoat. He promotes a dress code known as the six S's; Short hair, Sharp suits, Shiny shoes, Shades. But hey, he has the looks and personality to pull it off successfully.

Notably, he is never seen without the alien lifeform that acts as his scarf. The precise dimensions of the scarf vary depending on its mood that day, but its design is always the same; black and white horizontal stripes along the entire length of the scarf, with a large motif at one end that looks like a bright yellow eye.


Costume:
Given the meagre amount of possessions he brought to America, Chester's costume has been entirely improvised from the clothing stores found in the city.

Primarily, his costume is a long, deep red duster coat. It is quite tattered and well worn, giving the impression that Hitbox has been doing this job for longer than he actually has. Chester has the scarf serve as a mask, covering the lower half of his face and obscuring his voice somewhat.

Personality:
Given his upbringing, Chester is definitely cut from the upper crust of society. He is exceptionally polite to those around him, and very well spoken; often using more words than is strictly necessary.

Chester is very proud of his nationality, and will often talk about it without any real provocation. He will also vehemently defend his countrymen if required.

In battle, Hitbox is exceptionally brave, very often toeing the line between brave and stupid. Rather than being outright stupid, however, he is simply acting in the way he feels he should; he has been granted an amazing gift, it would be wrong not to use it to help others. He throws himself into battle, because that's what heroes do.


Background:
George and Marjory Dawes are English politicians whose campaign boasts they are normal, ordinary people. They live in an ordinary house, drive ordinary cars and send their ordinary children to ordinary schools. But fate has a funny sense of humour and it is probably due to the Dawes' "Ordinary" campaign that their eldest child was born with the x-gene, giving him extraordinary mutant abilities.

Chester, named after the city his parents represent, only learned he was destined for greatness shortly after his grandfather died. The boy received his grandfather's favourite scarf at the will reading along with the comforting note, "It kept me save during my journeys, may it keep you safe during yours." The meaning of the note became clear some days later when an errant football was sent flying towards our young hero.

There was no brutal impact, no sickening crunch, nor was there much of anything in particular. As Chester flinched, his scarf had formed a hand and brought itself up to catch the ball, stopping it dead.

Initially, Chester thought it was a trick of the mind; he had caught the ball himself, or it had missed him, or he had imagined the whole thing. Personal experimentation proved him wrong; with a little thought, and a lot of will power, Chester was able to make the scarf move by itself, as well as changing its size and shape.

Once he had worked out some basic skills and attacks, he decided to turn to costumed vigilantism. Surprisingly, his parents agreed, though they felt it would be best, both for their child and their careers, if he did so a foreign locale. Thus was Chester sent to America with the instructions that he find, and work alongside, the mutants whose names and faces were plastered all over the news. Sending the politicians son to work with wanted, dangerous criminals can only end well, right?

Chester has the power of tactile matter and energy manipulation. He doesn't have a great deal of control over his skills at present, so he can pretty much only work with his scarf.

Part of the confusion is that Chester is unsure as to the precise nature of his powers. As far as he is concerned, the catalyst is the scarf: it must be haunted, or magical, or an alien in disguise or something. The mistake regarding the nature of his scarf is also the reason he is so attuned to it; he has fixated on perfecting this skillset over any other.

His scarf can, and often will, function as a second set of arms.

A punch with massive strength behind it, wherein the scarf would connect, rather than his own fist. I imagine this would come in two variants; a giant fist (battletoads style) or a large clawed hand coming from below, which would have launching properties.

The scarf can be used to amplify Chester's own strength (with regards to lifting and carrying)

The scarf's eye can launch bolts of energy

Background:
Chester attempted to lead a normal life as a child growing up in Georgia, but beyond his control were complications. One such issue is that he was British, and he was the only British person within the next few towns' distance. What made this a complication is that this included his Twinkie-frying double-wide dwelling parents whom he did not resemble. This was something he was unable to explain as it had not been explained to him and at most he had to settle for mutterings of 'God's mysterious ways'. There was also the scarf.

He did not like the scarf because it was itchy, and yet he always brought it everywhere. No one forced him to take it, no one would admit having given him it, and it was, of course, Georgia, so outside of the holiay season a scarf served only for masochism. Despite this, he always had it wrapped around him somewhere.

Additionally, he became preoccupied across the pond, immersing himself in British culture like some do Japanese cartoons. No one else in the entire state of Georgia was interested in this, and so with the unexplained ethnicity, alien personality, fashion statements, high intelligence, and peculiar intrests, Chester Dawes did not fare well socially.

As a teenager Chester developed urges of procreation, and to do this he needed the one thing that drives small-town teenage girls wild; personal transportation. His loving parents were not well-to-do, but generously said he could have the car in the front yard if he could get it to work. After some work with the lawn mower and the hedge shears he found out it was a 1974 Trans Am.

He ventured out of the yard and came to contact his twin neighbors Jeb abd Bub. While they were the not bastions of culture he considered himself to be, they did know a fair bit about cars as they were rebuilding a few themselves. While he was a nerd, the deep south is a friendly place and they appreciated this oppurnity to man him up a little and took him under their non-deoderized wings. He helped them in the tast of rebuilding a truck. As time went by, Chester ebcame a bit more relaxed, and his scar must have been starting to wear out because it was soft and comfortable and must have stretched because it was still an apppropriate size for him. He hung out with Jeb and Bub, worked on cars, and even experimented with fried foods.

One fateful day Jeb and Bub left him alone in the garage under a jacked-up car to work on its undercarriage. The jack performed up to its name and gave out, causing the vehicle to plummet towards him. Chester accepted death quite quickly, but to his politely restrained surprise, the ends of his scarf moved. They snapped up and caught the bumper of the car, pulling and sending him sliding across the garge floor and into the wall before the vehicle could crush him. He managed to regain his composure and explain to the returning Jeb and Bub that he had lighting-fast reflexes. He excused himself for the rest of the day.

After taking time to accept that this had, in fact, happened, he began to explore the phenomena. He found that he could, often, get the scarf to react and move simply by willing it to. It seemed confused and clumsy at first, but soon it would respond well, except when it didn't. Sometimes it would refuse to respond, do the wrong thing, or slap him with one of its ends. Still, this was far more control than most people have over their scarves and so he took it as a blessing. The scarf's strength and dexterity allowed him to undertake repair of the 1974 Trans Am and complete in a surprisingly short period of agnonizing frustration. At this point he chose never to thinkabout auto repair again and erased all knowledge of it from his mind. He bid best wishes to Jeb and Bub, kissed his mum goodbye, and drove to Portland, Oregon.

Portland he imagined to be the opposite side of the Earth from Georgia, and as the 1974 Trans Am could not take him to England he chose to relocate there. His scarf was accepted there by the hipsters and the weather was cool enough to wear it in comfort most of the year. There was culture and thinking and steamed vegetables and he was quite happy with his location for about 6 weeks until he began to get very sick.

It seemed the cold did not agree with him because his body temperature was dropping; he felt a longing for the hot sun of his old home. Not wanting to head back there, he drove the 1974 Trans Am south to take up life in Los Angeles.

However, the story does not begin in Georgia. It begins thre million light-years in a star system in the Triangulum galaxy. This system sported two life-bearing planets that had evolved sentient life. The life on these worlds had evolved quite far, and the primary life forms were little beyond nerves and synapses with a layer of micromusculature and a protective layer. They fed upon solar power and ambient life energy, and communicated with each other mentally.

The world furthest from the sun gave rise to the peaceful wooly Sudarium Empire. Closer to the sun, the more slender silky-skinned Cravats took the path of conquerers. While both species were quite content in their life-rich natural habitats, it was difficult for them to leave these places for they needed to be near other living things for long-term survival. The Cravats sought to solve this problem by enslaving a simple race on another world they had discovered. The Sudariums took more expense to create assorted devices to fill these needs artificially. The Sudariums would not abide the Cravats' attack on another world and so between the two, a war sprung up. The Cravat slaves were inferior to the Sudariums' warm mannequins, but were so much greater in number that the wooly ones were quickly overwhelmed.

The war went on, but to ensure the survival of their race, the ruling pair of Sudariums bore a son. They namd him Newse, and the infant was taken by their best guards to be hidden away among the stars. The hiding spot was planet Earth, and the guards touched down in England one breezy summer night. They found a human child just slightly too young to speak and warmly bundled the pseudo-parasitic Newse around him.

The aliens had not been in England long enough to learn polite behaviour, however, and the Cravats appeared and before the child could be returned to his parents and the guards had to flee. It took the spance of of an ocean to shake them, and the guards touched down on a hot sunny day in Georgia. The child was left on the doorstep of a double-wide and the guards returned to their ship to finish off the Cravat hunters.

The guards never came back. They might have left him in Georgia due to having not survived their fight, or it might be that they hadn't the resources to transport him back to his birth parents. It could have been the sunny state was better suited to nurture the child than the drizzling nation in which he had been found. Possibly, he was left in Gorgia because Newse bore the colors of the Derby County Rams, the worst association football team in England, and it would not have been safe for him within the country's borders. Regardless of the reason, the residents of the trailer took him in and named him Chester. They told locals that he had been born at home and simply forgot to tell anyone and that story carried them to the start of this one. The infantile Newse passed for a scarf with a strang pin and instincitvely empathically bonded to Chester and inflicted him witht he compulsion to wear him about. Nutured by Chester's body and the hot georgia sun, Newse too grew to young manhood and intelligence. He matured from parasite to symbiote. A bit of trouble happened when the host almost got himself crushed and since then the host has thought he could tell Newse what to do, but Newse cares for his host and really doesn't have anything else to do.

Now in Los Angeles, the two form the superhero known as Chokehold. Newse provides the strength, speed, skill, and powers, while Chester largely provides transportation and one-liners. Chester still believes that he controls the scarf thorugh some manner of 'super power', and was attacred to the Sunshine of Destiny school in hopes of controlling it. Newse, in the mean time, is unable to communicate with the strange life-forms on this world and spends his time hanging about and pondering why all the other scarves on this planet are dead.

Origin of Powers: Mutant.

Powers: Chester has no powers, at all, and is a normal dislocated British young man. However, his 'scarf' Newse has some interesting abilities.

Empathic Symbiosis- Newse can feel and influence the emptions of a thinking being he is in at least moderate sustained physical contact with. This allows him to act as though he were an extension of the host's body if he chooses to do so.
*Host Maintainence- Newse can affect his host. He can instill compulsions (such as to wear him all the time), phobias, simple thoughts, or even psychosematic illness.
*Host Healing- Incredible(40) ability to heal the host per day. Newse has a reserve of 40 HP which he may transfer to to heal the host in any amount at any time. It takes a good day in the sun to recharge them. Newse is not affected in any way by emptying this 'account'.

Minor Regeneration- Newse does not heal at a heightned speed, but he heals perfectly with no scars and can heal from anything that does not obliterate him. If severed, the ends will grow back together if able, and if not the larger piece will regenerate.

Controlled Enlarge- Incredible(40) Ability for Newse to increase his size in any direction, be it lenght, width, thickness, or any combination of these. His exact limits are unknown. He can grow into any flat-ish shape he desires, though nost of what he can turn into is of little use.
*Physical Override- Newse is physically superior to Chester and so when it comes to a fight he usually does all the work; when they punch, it is Newse curling his end into a massive fist; when they move, it is Newse jerking Chester around by his neck.
*Ranged Melee- Newse can stretch to make melee attacks up to 40 feet away.
*Scarf Shield- Newse can devote some of his striped length to make a barrier for Chester's protection. This gives hiom -2S to evading melee attacks and halves his Ranged Melee range. However, it gives him +2 to evading ranged attacks as well as giving him Good(10) Armor vs all damage.
*Twirling Defense- Alternatively, Newse can give up some of the length he uses to jerk Chester around and use it to interpose against incoming attacks. This gives him -2CS to evading ranged attacks but +3CS to evading melee attacks.
Note: Chester cannot use the Scarf Shield and the Twirling Defense at the same time, so don't ask!
*Scarf Swinging- Chestrer can move at a good clip and avoid traffic and terrain hazards while in the city, while enjoying all the thrills of being swing around by his neck, as Newse shoots out his ends and grabs this and that and swings around like a photographer.
*Derby County Dazzler- This is a free action, but once it is taken Chester and Newse are no longer in the fight. It requires simly to announce on Chester's turn that it is happening. Chester's ends stretch out and come back and go out again, rapidly forming a dazzling display of black and white stripes between Chester and his foes While this is happening, Chester is flung somehwere safe, and when the wall goes down it appears he has vanished. If Chester wishes to take anyone with him, and Newse agrees, send an action first and roll Incredible(40). On a Yellow, two folks can come along. This ability generally works, but it is environment-dependent, and may not workj if there is absoloutely nowhere to flee to. I.E. if Chester has enemies on all sides while he is in the middle of a large open lot, this probably will not work.

Extra Limbs- Newse's host has four largely useless limbs that are nevertheless not required for Newse's actions. If the host chooses, he can use his normal unscarved stats to take an 'extra turn' during his normal turn.


Equipment:
Scarf Pin- What the earthlings dismiss as a 'scarf pin' is actually an all-purpose device to help care for and protect a Sudarium. The garnet is actually a cystaline computer, and the brass is actually... brass, to hold the garnet in place. Nwese has largely outgrown this device and it does not do much for him, but it does have a few effects.
*Tracking- The device allowws the Empire to keep tabs on their Prince.
*Ranged Empathy- While humans are so neurologically backwards that Sudariums have to snuggle up to communicate with even the most basic empathy, this device can communicate at range with Chester as though he were wearing Newse. This only works on Chester at this time.
*Defense Laser- Once per day, the gem can fire an energy beam of Amazing(60) damage at Unearthly(150) accruacy, as a free action. It takes a good day in the sun to recharge this.

1974 Trans Am- Chester's car, mostly reliable, in the shop a lot. Due to Chester's slightly obsessive compulsive personality it is always 'the 1974 Trans Am', never his car or the trans am or the Pontiac, always 'the 1974 Trans Am'.


Weaknesses:

Solar-powered Scarf- Newse has enough in common with a warm, wooly scarf that no one has mistaken him for anything else. However, his health requires regular exposure to bright sunlight, which is less than comfortable for the wearer.

Roughly as human as human- The base physical attributes are for the Chester/Newse combo. If separated, Chester has all Good physical stats and Newse gets -1CS to all physical stats. The mental stats do not change but the hit points do. If separated with injuries, Newse takes 2/3rds of the damage with him and Chester gets the rst rounded down.

Mind of its Own- Chester has absoloutely no ability to control Newse. The sentient scarf ca tell what he wants empathically and chooses to comply most of the time, but there is nothing forcing him to. If Newse is angry, distracted, in disagreement, or simply asleep, he may not react to Chester's wishes. He is also free to do whatever he wants, so if he wants to fire the laser or see what those boobs feel like or strap Chester to the bed for an extra hour of sleep, there is nothing that Chester can do to stop him.

Confused Individual- The Chester/Newse combo that the uninformed calle 'Chester' has two different minds going on seperately. Empaths pick up two sets of emotions from him which may not be at all the same. Mind readers get his normal thoughts as well as Newse's thoughts, which come off as bizzaree mental babble as Newse's mind does not work the same way as the generaly Earthling comprehends.
