PART-TIME STUDENT
Player: Frostulfr
Name: Phillip Zhi
Codename: Shengxiao
Age: 17
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 225 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
Nationality: Chinese/American
Occupation: Student
Appearance: For the most part, Phillip looks like a Chinese guy. His skin tone and facial structure are of that ethnicity. However, there are a few exceptions. For one, he has broad shoulder, and noticeably defined pectorals. For another, he is over six feet tall. The blonde hair and blue eyes do not fit the stereotype well either, and so his mixed heritage is rather obvious. Still, he comes from good stock and is a very handsome young man.
Picture:
Personality: Phillip is a complicated young man. He has issues from being moved to a new country at a young age. He has abandonment issues from growing up without a father, and further issues from now knowing his father but being unable to form a relationship. Though still hopeful, he feels beyond the opportunity to have a strong, caring man in his life and now that he is becoming a man, he seeks to fill that role for others. Phillip also spent many of his formative years in China, and has been ingrained with concepts of honor, duty, and decency. Although he does strive not to be as uptight as he was raised to be, these things will always be with him to some degree.
Background: Phillip Zhi was born a bastard of a US Navy sailor and a shopkeeper's daughter. After permanently dishonoring the lovely young girl, the sailor returned to America, never to be seen again! Still, though she would never marry, her father had enough money to support her and her little boy.
She gave her son an 'American' name in remembrance of his father. The strange name was already enough to make him stand out from his peers, and his blonde hair and blue eyes and considerable size difference added up to a rather unhappy first crack at childhood. He had no father, he had no friends, and his mother was a slut. Life in china was not working out. His mother began to take online college courses and save up money, and when he was about 6 years old she packed up and they moved to America, where Phillip would hopefully blend in a little better and could take advantage of his American citizenship.
Before he left, his grandmother gave him an antique locket of jade, and told him to keep it on his person always. Although it was girly and would not even open, he took it and made the promise.
Things were better in America. There were big guys like him, and more diversity made him stand out less. Even though his classmates preferred to call him Goku or Bobby Wontons, they accepted him and let him play their reindeer games. He grew up strong, smart, and handsome.
Wanting every advantage for her son, his mother decided to move him on to private school when he reached high-school age. However, her job in medical billing was not enough to pay for such a thing. She had only one choice; to find her son’s father.
His father was in his final year of his Naval enlistment when he sired the lad, and by the time this act caught up with him he was a civilian once more. He'd taken over his own father's aeronautics company and was quite wealthy. He was also quite married, and ingrained in his spot in society. This bastard son coming out of nowhere all of a sudden threatened to destroy his status-quo in one fell swoop! Phillip, upon learning that he did indeed have a father and his mother had in fact not picked him from a peach tree, only wanted to meet the man and make up for so much lost time. His father's only concern was keeping his marriage together and not having this dalliance out in the open, and so he threw money at the boy and his mother.
Bobby Wontons at least got a fine education out of it, and continued to grow and improve. Soon, he was in prep school, earning straight As and starring on the football team. Girls wanted him, boys wanted to be him, teachers praised him! His future seemed grunted until he took a hit in a football game. A large defensive tackle charged into him, hard enough to shatter stone.
Well, it was just a little stone. Jade is a stone. Yes, Phillip was fine from the impact, but it busted the locket he'd been carrying around all these many years. By this point, Phil had more or less forgotten why he was even carrying the thing around. Upon getting home and examining it, he found something inside. Not a picture, but a little triangular disk of quartz, with a carving of a tusky pig on it. It did not seem to be valuable, or do anything special beyond projecting an image of the big when held up to the light. So! He put it away with other random odds and ends, and proceeded to sleep off the day.
After a few long years of a good, normal, peaceful life, Phillip woke up to find a giant wild boar standing over him in his bed. He reacted... less than honorably, at first, but when a boar does not want you to leave then you do not leave. The big pig then began speaking to him, which was also unwelcome, but it began to explain itself.
According to the boar, once upon a time in China a powerful artificer wished to achieve ultimate power. Understanding that ultimate power is a bit much to go for all at once, he decided to break it up into pieces which when combined would give the result. Taking inspiration from the Shengxiao, or as ignorant westerns call it, the 'Chinese Zodiac', he sought and bound one of each spirit to a amulet. Each would empower a user with certain abilities, and when combined enough abilities to become theoretically unstoppable.
The amulets can be used by anyone, but only those with a strong will and a natural attunement to the spirits can properly control them. One who comes up- lacking may not be able to access all the powers of a amulet, or may fund themselves being the one controlled!
All the amulets were created, but before the man could achieve his goal he was stopped and over time the amulets have been scattered around the world. Phillip's Chinese ancestors got the Boar amulet many generations ago, and sealed it away and have been guarding it ever since. Now that it is unsealed from its jade case, others will come looking for it. The pig told Phillip he must prepare to defend himself from these other amulet holders - or he must go and find them first.
So! Bobby Wontons was a superhero now, apparently. With pig powers, at that. His future has changed to either accept a life of defending himself against super-powered weirdos, or to go out and collect another eleven of these things so he can get on with his life. Regardless, prep school was not going to prepare him for that.
Needing a base of operations for this endeavor, Phillip began to seek another place more suited for him. He and the Sunshine of Destiny academy found one another, and though he was not a mutant they decided to let him stay there full-time. Powers are powers, and the school's defenses make it a safe place for the amulets. Now Phillip is an outsider again; the only kid in school without any real powers, an outsider again. Time to see how far he can run with his new destiny.

Origin of Powers: Enchanted amulets
Powers:
Spiritual Attunement- Phillip is attuned to the spirits due to a natural ability and a pure soul. This allows him to interact normally with spirits but grants him no mechanical bonus.
Equipment:
Zodiac Amulets- Phillip gets his powers from the Zodiac Amulets. Each amulet is indestructible by any earthly means, and will only fail to work for him if he loses it or it becomes encased in jade, The Amulets all have the following specifications.
-Power: A basic power from the amulet that is always active for whoever wields it.
-Internal Power: A more complex power Phillip can use whenever he wants.
-Secret Power: An advanced power that can only be called upon once per scene. An avatar of the spirit generally appears for the duration of the effect. Once-per-scene abilities used outside of non-diced events can be used once every 6 hours.
-Element/Attribute: Each amulet is attuned to either one of the elements or a FASE RIP stat and gives some kind of bonus based on such. Attribute bonuses from this affect HP/MP.
Note: A crossed-out power is one he cannot yet access
'Powers' are always active and overlap, but 'Internal Powers' cannot be used simultaneously. Secret Powers and Elements may overlap on individual basis as determined by the GM.
Trine: Four of the amulets have a bonus called Trine. This requires two specific other amulets to be in the possession of the user and not depowered or inactive in any way.
Anyone who has obtained an Amulet must roll Psyche to activate it, unless the spirit wishes to activate itself.
Amulets Possessed
12.Boar: Gold boar on clear quartz.
-Power: Remarkable(20) True Invulnerability vs all damage except Cold/Ice. TRINE: If the user possesses both the Sheep and Rabbit amulets, this increases to Fantastic(30).
-Internal Power: Boar Rage: At any time that the user is under 40 HP, they get +2CS to attacks. 'Boar Rage' may overlap with any amulet power that does not specify otherwise. If the Dog amulet is possessed, this bonus lasts for 2 rounds after the HP has risen above 40.
-Secret Power: Tenacity- Once per scene, the user may regain 60 hit points. They must have at least 1 remaining hit point to do this. Tenacity requires an action. This ability is Spectacular(60). The Boar appears, then dissolves to energy and flows into the user.
-Attribute: Endurance +1CS
Weaknesses:
Amulets-Any of Shenxiao's powers can be taken away as easily as taking an amulet. Also, the amulets are unpredictable and do have minds of their own.
Jade- The powers of the amulets cannot penetrate any type of jade. They are powerless when encased in jade and some of their effects can be blocked by the stone.
Contacts: Rich daddy, Wise grandmother
Knowledges: Phillip speaks Chinese as his first language.
Skills: Phillip is an excellent athlete and straight-A student. He can roll Reasoning to call up simple education.
Notable Notes: Phillip and his family hate to say 'Chinese Zodiac'. They find the term offensive and stupid, and always say 'Shengxiao' if possible.
Phillip has an odd status of picking up nicknames.
Phillip is not a mutant, but he is allowed to live full-time at the school.
