VINDICATOR
Player: Lukas`
Name: Artifice. No human name chosen.
Codename: Artifice
Age: 24
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 220
Hair: Golden
Eyes: Also Golden
Species: Unique constructed being.
Occupation: Vindicator, Artificer to the new generation of divinity.
Appearance: Tall and Lean; superhero-style muscular; but slightly heavier then his build should dictate. He is not muscle bound, but is ripped and trim in the manner of a statue of human masculinity. His skin shines the same colour as bronze, giving him the look of a living statue. His eyes shine like burning embers, but he oftentimes wears special contacts to give him the appearance of just having normal blue eyes. His hair is metallic gold in colour (might actually –be- gold); and hangs in lose curls from his head. Despite his origin and his nature, he looks, feels and otherwise seems human in all regards except for strange colour of his skin, eyes and hair.
Costume: The Talos mark 4 armour. Golden plates of rune-etched armour over a black leather bodysuit. It seems both archaic and magnificent all at once. A vast, golden hammer hangs at his hip usually; slung from a belt adorned with pouches and clips and containers full of magical knickknacks. His Vindicator Badge is worn on his right shoulder.
Personality: Naive. He has spent a great deal of time watching the world and learning about it; but he hasn’t ever really lived in it and thus only understands it from an academic standpoint currently. He can be a bit arrogant, given his history and his status as young godling. It is not a cruel arrogance though, mostly just a low level sense of superiority, not a full blown narcissist complex. His father, being the ugliest of the Greek gods and one of the most trodden upon; has taught Artifice a bit of humility though, keeping him grounded and free of the “Crazies” that tend to plague the Greek Pantheon.
Background: "Son" of Hephaestus. Tired of his whorewife's cheating and wanting a good son to carry on his name and work; the Forge-God decides to just go and make one himself. Years of work, several failed attempts..and a great deal of effort later; Hephaestus succeeded. He built an artificial son, a construct of such infinite perfection and subtle design that the very spark of life and divinity flowed from Hephaestus into it. It was not born though; and so technically claims the rank of Demigod; and has become the son Hephaestus always wanted. He grew up (because that’s now perfect the design was, that it even started as a baby) and is now old enough to wish to see the world and to influence the land of mortals. Thus he has left the safety of Olympus to explore the world, and has ended up signed up with the Vindicators, a modern team of superhuman heroes. He equates them roughly to the Argonauts and sees his time with them as more then appropriate for someone like him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fighting----- Incredible (40)
Agility------ Fantastic (30)
Strength----- Spectacular (50)
Endurance---- Amazing (60)
Reasoning---- Fantastic (30)
Intuition---- Remarkable (20)
Psyche------- Excellent (14)
Hit Points: 180
Mental health: 64
Resources: Excellent+2 If not downright staggeringly high.
Source of Income- Salary from Vindicators and own personal wealth from home. Infact; might be able to just up and manufacture gold; thus making ‘income’ a moot point and something he doesn’t fully understand.
Origin of Powers: Artificial Son of the Forge God; heir to the throne of the great maker..
Powers: Divine Powers and Artificial Self.
Artificial Self- Artifice is inorganic, lacking the needs and susceptibilities of organic beings. He has a real mind and soul, however lacking an organic body, generally attempts to affect either suffer a -3CS penalty. By nearly constantly drawing upon the power of the Forgehammer via the Hand of the Great Maker, Artifice is able to heal at approximately 10 times normal speed; but if deprived of their power, he will still heal as per a normal human.
Artificer- Phenomenal(80) ablity to craft or work with divine artifacts, or to make divine adjustments to existing objects. This is not a combat power.
Hand of the Great Maker: Enables Artifice to store the Forgehammer within himself, in a mystical space; while still being able to access its power to repair objects and create things as if he was weilding it. It also allows him to summon the Forgehammer should he wish it. Appears as if his right hand and forearm has been transmuted into Orihalcum.
Brass Skin, Iron Bones, Gold Heart- Remarkable(20) Armor vs physical damage.
Sensory Enhancement- Arty gets +3CS to Intuition rolls.
*Scan- At will, the suit has the Amazing(60) ability to scan a person or object revealing all sorts of details about it. If he has Scanned something successfully. he gets +2CS to attacking it for the remainder of combat. Appears as intricate tracings and symbols on his irises.
Sense Magic- Artifice may detect supernatural energies on an Intuition roll.
Enchanted Ankle Wings: Allow flight at Good(10) Airspeed with Fantastic(30) Maneuverability.
Gift of The Messenger: Intricate etchings of the Enochian Language cast in silver, in his ear canals, and upon the roof of his mouth and under his tounge; allow Artifice to communicate in a divine language taught to him by Hermes. This allows him to be understood by nearly all earthly humans, and to understand nearly all terestrial languages. This gift only works on humans however, aliens and artifical things are uneffected by this and Artifice must communicate with them without the benefits of this gift. This does not allow him to read any more languages, those are not effected by his knowledge of Enochian.
Equipment: It can be assumed that much of Atrifice's equipment can only be used by himself or Godly beings.
Orichalcum- Orichalcum is a divine substance, not of this world. It is not subject to things that specifically effect metal.
ForgeHammer- An enchanted blacksmiths hammer of Orichalcum. As a weapon it deals +10 damage. with Remarkable(20) Armor Piercing. The hammer requitres Remarkable Strength to use, and weaker wielders get -1CS to attack for every rank they lack.
*Smash- The hammer does +30 damage instead of +10 when striking an inorganic object, such as a wall or a vehicle or a robot... or something else all-too-obvious.
*Knock- Incredible(40) ability to temporarily or permanenly repair objects. Thanks to modern experiance, it is no longer reduced in effect against higher tech items. It isn't even requied that Artifice understand the thing he is repairing, the effect is purely magical.
ThunderBolt Shards- Artifice carries three of these into combat. Thunderbolt Shards, when thrown by someone divine, turn into arcs of concentrated mystical lighting. They get +2CS to attack and deal Phenomenal(80) electrical damage with Remarkable(30) Armor Piercing.
Body Armor: A suit of enchanted brass armor, increases Artifices natural armor to a rating of Remarkable(25) when worn. It also equips a host of mundane crime fighting things. From a knife, to the off generic flashbang grenade. handcuffs, etc. He doesnt much care for these, but his Vindicator handlers seem to insist he carry them.
Misc Stuff: As a young Forgegodling, one can hardly expect Artifice to be without a variety of minor magical trinkets. Mostly useless, but in the right clever hands; anything can be used in the right circumstances. Functions as a magical utility belt. Anything not listed must be cleared per-use with the GM.
*Artificers' Tools- Anything one needs for minor Artificing on the go.
*Everburning Torch- A small lantern with a heatless flame that never goes out.
*Master's Key- A lead key that has the Excellent(14) ability to operate any keyhole. It may only be rolled once for any given keyhole; the result is permanent.
I.E., if it rolls and sussessfully works in a lock, it works in that lock forever. If it fails, it never works in that lock. If it fails, Artifice may 'repair' it with his hammer for another chance, at the risk of destroying it.
*Bag of Holding.- Belt pouch able to store about 200 pounds worth of things in a extradimensional cubbyhole.
Vindicator Badge- The badge acts as a communicator, able to contact the Vindicator base or any member, anywhere on the planet. If taken off, it is a cellular phone and a digital camera. Each badge contains a homing beacon.
Weaknesses:
Family Issues- Artifice is the artificial son of Hephaestus, built to spite his whorewife. As such, Aphrodite (said whorewife) resents his very existence and occasionally acts in a bitch way to make his life difficult. She is not Zeus or one of the real-real-powerful goddesses; and as such she does not usually throw actual dangers in his way, merely acts in a manipulative way to make his life more difficult then it otherwise would be.
Objective- Artifice is considered an object in reference to his own hammer.
Mettle- Artifice is not bouyant and cannot swim.
Badgered- Artifice is not allowed to modify his badge. No.
Contacts: The Greek Pantheon; other various Forge Gods/Goddesses; The Vindicators and anyone associated with them.
Knowledge:
*Magic. Encyclopedic knowledge of human magical systems; including alchemy, elementailsm, spiritualism, ritual magic and the like.
Otherworldly Knowledge: Aritifice is familiar with the mystical realms outside of Earth. He can find his way around Limbo, find his way to and from Hell, get to Bifrost, etc..etc. Knowing how is one thing, actually getting to these places is another matter.
Craftsman: He is a divine craftsman, and such his knowledge of things like Blacksmithing, Carpentry, and the like is nearby unparalled.
Skills: Magical Artificing, Alchemy, Crafting.
