Since this plot is over, I feel I might as well divulge the details that never got used. The following are listed the 107 brothers and sisters of Masterpiece, superlative weapons of legendary quality crafted in a ritual by master smiths from all around the world and their disciples. If you want to use one of these weapons in a plot or for fodder in creating a new character, feel free, I don't really need them anymore.
The 36 greatest blacksmiths, each bringing three blades, their 54 apprentices, each bringing two blades. Their offerings were smelted into a river of steel. 108 became the uncanny forge, rivalling that of Hephaestus himself, and the 108 finest became the material from which the final masterpieces were crafted. For 108 days the sound of hammers and the light of the forge roared to the heavens, and every day the dew was gathered for the quenching of the finished creations. Thus the 108 were born.
The 72
The first 72 weapons were crafted by the apprentices of the 36 master smiths. They are named generally after their creator and, while technically legendary in quality, are somewhat generic. Still, they are innately magical, nearly indestructible, and semi-sentient.
Masterpiece
Played as a character by Gradius. Masterpiece is a blade forged of the philosophy that the most powerful weapon is one wielded with purpose. Masterpiece seeks wielders with the will to master technique and crusade against... Basically anything, as long as their heart is in it. While none of the others are truly 'evil', Masterpiece is the only one that can be called truly 'good', as he will not join an injust crusade.
Dāsapattī
Indian Khanda, a broad, double edged straight sword with a nearly blunt tip and a spiked pommel. Devours the souls of those who die while wielding it, transforming them into Sword Slaves and bolstering its own power. Cares only about attracting the strong to kill its wielder.
Dasapatti is a hefty, dangerous weapon that can summon ghoulish creatures, the souls of its former wielders given shape by the cause of their death. They barely look human anymore.
Pathetic One - The soul of one who died of natural causes while wielding the blade. As the name implies, a pitiful creature that can only provide basic support. On the plus side, several can be summoned at once.
Drowned One - The soul of one who drowned while wielding the blade. Drowned Ones are swifter than Pathetic Ones, and can fire a powerful ranged weapon of pressurized bilgewater.
Crushed One - The soul of one who was buried alive while wielding the blade, often shortly after liberating it from its last wielders tomb. Crushed Ones are slow but very tough, protected by the stones that killed them which have incorporated into their flesh.
Flayed One - The soul of one who was killed by another. This is the sword's 'preferred' method of transference, and as such Flayed Ones are arguably the most powerful by virtue of this dubious honor. They are swift and skilled combatants who fight with a whip or claws of their own drawn blood, and are relentlessly aggressive.
Shining One - The soul of Musashi, the last wielder of Dasapatti before it was claimed by Brooke. A unique spirit, Musashi used the blade to kill himself, ensuring that the blade wouldn't be absorbed by Stahlkauen. For whatever reason, Dasapatti has allowed him to retain his true image. He is an extremely capable combatant who combines ancient wisdom and technique with modern practicality, perfectly content to wear modern armor and incorporate gunplay into his combat style when necessary. But as he likes to say, 'it is rarely necessary'.
Dasapatti is currently held by Brooke.
Mortihasta
Spartan style spear. Devours the souls of those it kills, gathering power from each lost life. It prefers to kill those capable of fighting back, and while it draws power from death, it takes no pleasure in it, caring only about serving its master.
Stahlkauen Degen
German flamberge. Devours the essence and even the metal of other weapons it destroys, stealing their power as well as increasing its size. The other blacksmiths found this weapon abhorrent, for it is founded not on perfecting one's own craft, but in stealing the prowess of others, an instrument of destruction on a profound level even compared to other weapons.
Palepaix
A French shield. Protects its wielder utterly as long as they are peaceful of mind and intention. Crafted of the philosophy that a true weapon protects the innocent.
Bìshā dāopiàn
The earliest Chinese firearm, simply a tube of bamboo packed with black powder and shrapnel. Kills nearly anything on the first strike, but must sleep for a long time afterward. Which is rather awkward in the middle of mass warfare. Aside from this flaw, it has practically no kick, perfect balance, and is in all other ways a superior gun.
Ugokanai Katana
A weapon that fills its wielder with fantastic knowledge of martial arts, but cannot be drawn. Generally worn, sheathed on the back, but some of its more clever bearers have found other techniques...
Chūjitsugatana
The Loyal Blade. A chinese Jin that will never leave its wielder, even in death. The unassuming old man wielding it was hundreds of years old and has lived as long as the weapon has existed. Sadly, the Stahlkuen Degen overwhelmed its power and absorbed it like all the others.
The Ankh
Magical club of regenesis, shaped like an ankh. Placed in the hands of a dead man, they will rise.
Unfortunately, the weapon was absorbed by Stalkhuen and lost forever when the weapon was destroyed.
Gladius Judicii
Roman style gladius that judges the opponent, growing more deadly if they are cowardly or evil, but unable to slay warriors and the purehearted.
Preculas
Oversized prayer beads that can be used like a whip. Crafted with a righteous state of mind, the beads are literally incapable of causing life threatening damage, but conveys debilitation with each strike. What kind of debilitation is up to divine whim.
Pankhatara
A pair of Katar style daggers. Either can transform into three feather-like throwing knives and be controlled by the other.
Disperato
An ornate Italian style stiletto. Grows larger and sharper the more danger the bearer is in, but its weight and balance are unaffected. The weapon also augments spiritual power of the wielder in dire times. Unfortunately destroyed by Stahlkuen, its spirit is now held by Brooke.
Yin
A black dagger with a white dot at the crosspiece, broadly curved. Heals those it strikes, moreso if Yang has hurt someone. Yin and Yang certainly didn't happen by accident; They were crafted by twins, a gentle hearted sister and a ruthless brother who found balance in one another.
Yang
A white dagger with a black dot at the crosspiece, broadly curved. Deals more damage after Yin has healed someone. Yin and Yang certainly didn't happen by accident; They were crafted by twins, a gentle hearted sister and a ruthless brother who found balance in one another.
Adam
A great puppet of red iron, “wielded” by psychic control. It fights with the skill of its wielder, but more or less removes their physical abilities from the equation, having its own strength. This is usually for the better.
Shugosaya
Katana with a very broad, well balanced sheath for blocking. Every attack deflected charges power in the weapon, which is expended when swung. A perplexing weapon to those who have encountered it, its foundation lies in an ancient fighting style known as Iaido, and carries the philosophy that a true master of combat needs only one strike.
Itachikama
A pair of small scythes attached to one another magically, the length of the ephemeral chain adjustable by the wielder. An unseen attack made with the weapon is completely painless, and even the blood flowing from the wound seems to sneak along to the ground. It is entirely possible for someone to bleed out without knowing they were struck until it's too late.
Bāghalāṭhi
A set of Bengali bracelets. When placed on any stick, transforms it into a chakram-throwing staff. When not in effect, the bracelets are completely unassuming and easily mistaken for simple jewelry.
Huumarang
A giant boomerang that takes longer to come back the more skillfully it is thrown, with exponentially more damaging results.
Misericroise
A pure golden sword of incredibly beautiful make. Useless in battle, but the worthy can use it to bless their knights, and it is useful in rituals.
Gulāmabhālā
Bamboo-handled polearm with a sun-shaped spearhead at the end. Deals no physical damage, but slowly destroys the target's will to resist with each strike, eventually enslaving them.
Seilgsgian Mor
An oversized Scottish hunting knife, with scalloped edges and a spearhead tip, the handle made of gemmed antler. Slays and skins beasts with amazing ease.
Cannaforte
A beautiful sword cane. A curious weapon befitting a gentleman rogue, it bears a supernatural subtlety. When swung as a cane, it tends to catch one off guard even if they were expecting hostility, leaving one briefly stunned. The exceedingly thin blade hidden inside, once drawn, finds even the smallest chink in armor.
Sigursvero
A powerful but practical viking sword that can never again be wielded by one who is defeated while carrying it. Unlike Dasapatti, it does not magically change hands, it simply returns to its scabbard and refuses to leave until in the hands of one worthier.
Sigrasvero
A simple, cracked viking sword that shows its true nature on the death of the wielder. Perfect for a heroic last stand, the weapon is functional but underwhelming until this time, at which point the wielder's sacrifice is rewarded by precious seconds as an earthbound Eihnerjar to finish the fight with the full power of Valhalla.
Ascia di Migliore
A powerful but unwieldy axe. In the hands of a truly skilled though, the blades tilt back to eject a great epee.
Ishchuruk
A pair of gauntlets that can form weaponry from anything by digging one's fingers into the material with a grasping motion. The weapons formed are of exceptional quality and bear whatever traits the form would imply, as well as whatever traits the material would imply.
چشم بسیاری از
Links with the other 107. Wielders of any 108 weapon can see through each-others eyes, and gain enhanced synergy when attacking the same target.
Cornuechoquant
A graceful rapier ideal for fencing. Despite its thin size, it can withstand even the greatest blows, and when struck, the blade vibrates violently with twice the force it was hit with, deflecting the blow and putting the attacker offguard.
Meingungir
A set of 8 German style throwing lances that seek out its enemies with impossible accuracy regardless of the throw.
Matarajio
A shotel that favors skill and refuses to cut enemies when handled poorly.
Shpataparate
Albanian circular shield decorated with numerous coins in place of the usual circle markings. Brings good fortune to the wielder, both in combat and in general. Luck however isn't everything, as many of the more foolish bearers of this weapon have assumed...
Lotoverlijden
A sword hilt that sprouts a wickedly deadly blade when fate demands it, but not a second sooner.
Murasame Saitekina
Superlative katana with a penultimate sharpness. Cannot be sheathed until it tastes blood.
Masamune Saitekina
Superlative katana with ultimate sharpness, though useless as a weapon. It passes through anything without harming it, as the cut is so perfectly fine that it doesn't cause any disruption.
