Name: Village Hidden in Bones
Created By: Trish
Symbol: Outline of a basic bone.
Nation: Land of Earth
Basic Description: A long, skinny village with simple buildings in the middle and pale green farmland on either end. Everywhere - amongst the buildings, amongst the farms, and littered on the dry ground between the village and the ravine entrances, are giant bones. These are fossils, of dinosaurs and ancient monsters. From a distance it makes the place look like a hellish graveyard of the damned, but within the city these remains are treated with respect and reverence and are not creepy at all.
It's hidden how, exactly?: The village rests in a long ravine accessible only on either end. It is a desolate area and long trek to get to the village. The ancient monster bones everywhere give the place a reputation for being 'cursed', and that along with the inhospitable trip keeps people away.
Size: Medium
Brief History: The Village Hidden in Bones is in a ravine that ripped open in a rocky wasted part of the world. In this chasm, many ancient fossils of dinosaurs and other things spilled out to litter the ground and bake in the sun. The place looked like Hell, or the lair of some terrible monster, or the home of many terrible monsters; however one looked at it thius was not a place anyone wanted to go. Eventually, a great Ninja was cursed by his enemy, his curse to pass along his bloodline. Exiled, he took his family and sought a place where people would not bother them and they would not bother others. The ravine welcomed him. In the ravine, he found rich, ancient soil and tons of thick clay. He found the underground rivers and when the old dirt was wet it becae quite fertile. Local animals were domesticated, seeds were planted, clay homes were built. Soon other exiles were drawn to the place and a grand non-judgmental community sprang up. As a Ninja generally had to be rather advanced to be worth putting a curse on, the heads of the families that came in were generally powerful Jonin and these families became powerful clans. The village became a calm and peaeful place; fitting for the rest of the ancient giants there.
Architectural Description: The buildings are mostly adobe and thatch, with the largest buildings being built agaisnt the walls of the ravine. Like the ravine, the village is long and lean. It is made up of several wide dirt roads with buildings and such in between them. Farmland is on either end of the civilized area, fed by underground rivers that have been routed in through the ravine walls. The Bone Village is very self-sufficient, and has very little need for any imports. However, it also has very little to offer as an export. The locals have what they need, no less, not much more.
Social Description: There are two flavors of people here; one group believes that they're all already damned and so life is to be taken with a grain of salt, the others believe the concept of 'damnation' is imaginary and again they live for the day. The Ninja here are positive and trained to turn any setback into a strength and any injury into an educational experience. The learn fast and never give up. Many of them carry a family curse, or at least know someone who is cursed - and these people are doing OK.
Ninja Values: Positivity & perseverance in the face of any problem.
Allies: Leaf Village
Enemies: Enemies of the Leaf Village
What's special about this place?:
*Cursed-Nin: The Bone Village has a unique type of ninja unlikely to be found anywhere else. Many of the ancestral clan fathers here had curses that would affect their entire bloodline. The current members of these clans bear these curses and all their penalties, but have also created jutsu and techniques to benefit from the curse. This is similar to a Kekke Genkai, however the differences are clear. Firstly, there is always some considerable drawback. Second, in theory the same curse could be applied to an outside individual to achieve the same results. Thirdly, the curse could theoretically be removed. Cursed Clans are generally potent and unpredictable but inferior to Kekke Genkai Clans.
*Ancient Bones: A lucky Nin may find a fossil that is bursting with the ancient chakra of the lizard kings. If this is small enough to carry, they can draw on that reserve for added power as well as extremely powerful and primal nature ninjutsu.
