Name: Hope Bettencourt
Codename: None established
Age: 16
Height: 5'1”
Weight: 95
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Nationality: White/Caucasian
Occupation: Student
Appearance: Short, skinny with curves, all American poster girl look. Very friendly and inviting to others. Having excessive access to capital, Hope has acquired the latest fashions in clothing and dresses to the times. She is a girls' girl, make up, pretty clothes, painted nails, a cute bit of eye candy, and that's how she likes it.
Picture:
Personality: Very happy, bubbly, chatty and inquisitive. Of average intelligence and a little above average common sense. Fickle, somewhat arrogant, and at times over confident, she generally out ways these less desirable traits with her charm.
Background: Parents well off, mutant supporters. Neither have powers but both were thrilled to find that she does. Hope was in a small private school in Kern County until adolescence, when her strength became evident. They quickly pulled her out and started home schooling, also resorting to pulling her younger sister out of the school, expecting her to have powers soon to follow (being only a year and a half younger than her sister). Hope was a very outgoing, happy, bouncy, but rebellious girl. Always finding ways to get away with doing what she wasn't supposed to. Her parents think she is an angel, but she knows better. However, her antics are limited to the area she lives in. She doesn't know what real trouble is. So, for the boonies, she runs that joint, in her mind. Throw her in the ocean with the sharks? Who knows if she'll swim. She thinks she will, of course. She's had the world figured out since she was five years old. Her loving parents, doing the best they knew how from their own silver spoon fed mouths, doted on her and saw her in a light of pure innocence, no matter what. They are considered the most wealthiest family in the dirt poor community, only living there because of the long embedded ties their families have to the area. Her parents are very 'progressive thinkers' and consider themselves very 'blue'. Yuppies with idealistic dreams and hopes for a thriving community, holding hands, smiling and getting along. It's with the best of intentions, however naive or simple minded they may actually be. She has run around this small town since she was allowed to leave her parents' sight, which was around kindergarten age. They felt they should let their child thrive and learn her own experiences with her watchful, helpful parents on the sidelines, waiting to coddle and aid her on her path to adulthood. Proving to their community that they had the utmost trust in them, they were equals and neighbors! They would never hurt the others' children, and they trusted them with their own offspring, just as a community, or in their eyes, family should. She found that all of the other children around her age, whether going to the school she attended miles away or the public one there in town, were fascinated with her. Her clothes, her bike, her house, her pool, everything she had. Or that her parent provided her. The community is very poor and she was a princess to them. Just to go over for a slumber party at her house would be like a day on the top of the whole heap for them. Just to have friends that weren't her sister, for her. She never really set herself atop others in the social-economical ladder, she didn't understand it by the time the need for friends set in, so she never lorded over them. In fact, if you didn't read the designer label on her clothes, you would think she was just another one of the other kids in town. Trying cigarettes, staying out past curfew, under aged drinking, smoking pot, anything the underprivileged kids were getting into. There were limits to the town, but very few limits to this girl's intent. Not necessarily wanting to just outright break any rule that came her way, but an early desire to live life to the fullest consumed her. She has a strained relationship with her sister. Charity has envied her since they were very young, and try as she might, her little sister never seemed to want to put that to rest. The only thing Charity ever held over her sister was her intelligence, which she dangles mockingly every chance she gets. Charity loves her big sister, just can't stand the fact that she's beat her to every little thing that has crossed their paths. On top of constant sibling comparison from her oblivious parents, poor Charity gets left in the dust as a smarty but nobody. Her scholastic accomplishments belittled by her Hope's physical achievements, popularity and charm. Hope, even though she loves her sister very much, generally gets lost in her own world. Not trying to be selfish, she gets caught up in the whirlwind of praise and admiration she receives from everyone in her life but Charity, and sometimes see's her as the odd man out, writes it off as Charity being a loner, and forgets to think about her sister's feelings. Charity has shown no signs of powers or mutation. After her sudden withdraw from the charter school she was attending, questions and rumors started to float among the locals. Some said there was an illness in the family, some say Hope fooled around and got herself pregnant leading her parents to pull her out to save her and the family embarrassment. Never one to be very discreet, and her parents being overly excited about their star-child having been bestowed with such gifts, her mother, Margaret Bettencourt decided the best way to squash those nasty rumors and put everyone at ease about the situation would be to run for local office. Winning the mayoral post was an easy task for Marge, the victory and popularity such a savory taste that she decided to pursue a career in politics and run for the gubernatorial position. Stepping up as an out, known and proud mutant supporter backfired almost immediately. Her first speech on her state wide campaign ended in tragedy as an underground, covertly rising terrorist group of anti-mutant activists ensured a quick conclusion to her dream of mutant reform. Marge was shot in the chest three times, ceasing her run in politics and destroying her family. James, her husband and Hope's father, devastated and terrified for his daughter's safety, packed up his children and fled the area, knowing that not much further south things were a bit calmer in the ocean of mutant rights, and aware of the academy in Los Angeles. He decided that Hope would be more than safe at the school, and it would free him of one more body to feed, protect, and keep alive while he tried to find a safe haven. He also decided it was best for Hope to remain unaware of his and Charity's location, just in case there may be prying eyes and ears around. Setting his wonder-child up with a hefty sum of cash in a local bank and supplying her with a debit card, he figured she would be more than happy and well off on her own. The time will come when James and Charity could seek her out again, but until then, Hope was to carry on as if she was alone in this world.

Hit Points: Ignore this
Mental health: Ignore this – Done.
Resources: Debit card linked to local bank account in her name. Account is supplied with $3000 per month.
Source of Income: Father – James Bettencourt. School does not supply her with an allowance for obvious reasons.
Origin of Powers: Mutant
Powers: Super Strength - at will/in control of this power
Powers: Super Strength – the ability to lift an enormous amount of weight. Hope has the ability to lift up to about 2,000lbs. (I dunnon Trish. She's like hella fuckin' strong and one of her stories is that she lifted a friends' truck off of him after he got in a wreck and flipped it. He was pinned down and she literally lifted it over her head and tossed it about 20ft away. So, whatever you wanna do with that...)
*Stunts: Hope has only recently considered honing her powers for use. This far, she's only really been showing off all of the things she can break and lift to her friends. Training and discipline are lacking.
Equipment: It may seem like a small, silly thing, but Hope carries a small switch-blade a long time friend in Mojave gave her. She views it as a defense weapon and fancies it as a status symbol.
Equipment- Switchblade – Small, concealable, common knife.
Weaknesses: Admiration – Hope is incredibly susceptible to flattery and attention. When she receives praise or complements, all common sense goes out the window and her mind is absorbed with getting more. It's so bad, in fact, that getting any positive or perceived 'special' attention can distract her from absolutely anything: cooking, a broken limb, bodily functions, even the death of a family member. This weakness is much more than just vanity and way above average for any human, it is completely debilitating.
Contacts: As Hope's family is on the run and hiding from anti-mutant activists, all of Hope's connections and high up acquaintances have been broken due to the need for secrecy. She is no long in a position to use her status, wealth, or old friends to aid her in any area of her life.
